Please check back often for more information on the exciting work we are doing to bring affordable housing to our fellow Cache Valley residents. We plan to update this site as often as possible. Some things will stay the same but we plan to have updates and news as often as we can.

 

We are having two fundraisers in the next couple months co-sponsored by two great area restaurants. On Tuesday, Oct 12 we are partnering with Angies Restaurant and Logan 17th Ward to raise money for building and repairing homes. We will get 20% of the proceeds from dinner (from 5-10 pm). There is no special menu, altho there will be some specials offered that night, no tickets to buy, no reservations to make. Just show up, order your favorite dinner and we get money! Support Angies and Habitat and raise some money! See you there!

 

On Tuesday, Dec 7, we are partnering with Texas Roadhouse for dinner also. More on that as the time gets closer. See you there!

 

 

We are still between houses--we are looking for more applications--if you know anyone who could use a Habitat house, please ask them to get an application. The next house will be in Hyrum.

During the summer we will have new office hours--we'll be open Monday thru Thursday, from 10-2. Closed Friday.

 

We are inbetween houses at the moment. We are looking for the next family to build for and the next lot to build on. If you or anyone you know could qualify for a Habitat house or if you have a lot that you could give us a good deal on, please let us know. To qualify for a house, you must be considered low-income, not have too much consumer debt, be able to afford the mortgage (this is not a giveaway program) and not have had a bankruptcy in the past 5 years. Give us a call for an application.

 

The dedication for Rachelle's house is scheduled for Saturday, Feb 27 at 11:00. All are welcome to attend. Give us a call for the address.

 

We are writing the mortgage for Rachelle's house now. We plan to have the dedication in February. Thanks to all of you who donated time, money and effort on this house. We truly could not do it without our volunteers and partners. We are currently looking for a lot or 2 to buy or get donated. If you know of someone who wants to get rid of some land, let us know!

 

 

 

We got almost all the painting done over the last couple days. still have the closets to go. The stove and fridge are here and sitting in the livingroom! Cabinets should be going in soon and the floor covering. Things are going fast! thanks to all you who helped.

 

Looks like we will be painting soon! if you would like to help, give us a call 435-752-8419 and we'll tell you when and where! They are sheetrocking and taping now, then do the finish work, then the paint!

 

We got the walls up and the first layer on the roof! Now we need some sunshine to dry it out. Thanks so much to those who could come help.

 

We are again partnering with Bank of Utah and Aggie Sports Properties during the men's basketball season. For each point that the Aggies score at home, Bank of Utah will donate $1 to Cache Valley Habitat! So go cheer those guys on and help them run up the score! This is the third year for this partnership which has raised over $2600 for us! Thanks so much!!

Okay, they say we are going to put up the walls and put on the roof on Monday and Tuesday, Oct 26 and 27. Sorry it is not a Saturday so that more people could help, but that is the day the contractor in charge said he could do it. If you can come help, bring work gloves and water and please let us know if you plan on being there so we can let you know if there is last minute plan changes like 2 feet of snow or something.

 

 

 

Sorry to say that we won't be working on Oct 3 either. We are waiting on the construction company and they can't do it that day. No date has been set as a reschedule. Get on our email list or keep checking here.

 

 

We have a whole bunch of new HP Laserjet printer toner cartridges for sale. They are  HP Laserjet 2420/2430. They are in the Staples catalog for about $125. We are selling them for $50 plus postage or you come get them.

 

 

We are starting on the next house! We have the foundation poured and plan to put the walls up and the roof on on Saturday, Oct 3, 2009. You are welcome to come help! Bring work gloves and water and we'll supply lunch and donuts. The address is 832 S Park Ave., Logan. Park Ave is 750 W.

We are  done with Erin's house on Park Avenue. They have moved in and we had the dedication on Aug 22. Thank you to all the people who have made this go so fast and smooth. You are truly making a difference in the world!

 

Now it is on to the next house! We have chosen a family for the house we will build next door to Erin's. Rachelle is a single mom with one son. We hope to start on their house real soon.

 

We have recently received several grants. Thank you very much to Pepperidge Farm for the $2000 grant they gave us. We also got a rebate on the money we spent on lumber from the Softwood Lumber Grant program. Thanks to you all. The money will be used to help eliminate substandard housing here in Cache Valley. 

In a recent newsletter, we incorrectly identified one of our grant donors. Cache Rich Association of Realtors gave us $2000. Sorry for the confusion.
